The halfway point of Route 66 in Adrian, TXThe weather was looking threatening so I was thinking about staying in Adrian, the halfway mark of Route 66 but the guy who ran the only motel in town passed away last month. The next town with accommodation was Tucumcari in New Mexico; another 70 miles away...
this storm front has been threatening me all day. It's been good in a way though as it's been cooler (80 deg) and the wind has dropped.

oh, I adore New Mexico--it's absolutely beautiful there! I hope the weather is cool enough for you there--we're having a killer heat-wave here in CA (99* at the beach!)
Anyways--make sure you enjoy the fantastic Mexican food available and you ABSOLUTELY must try some Sopapillas--they are tasty, puffy hot fried bread things that you fill with butter and honey! Oh--pure heaven and you will only see them in the Southwest!
